Discover the sacred landscapes of Delphi, where myth and history intertwine, and explore lively harbors throughout the Greek Isles rich with timeless charm. Evenings invite deeper immersion, from seaside taverns alive with music to moonlit views across iconic island coastlines. Along Italy’s shores, centuries of culture and cuisine await in hilltop towns, historic ruins, and celebrated regional flavors. Whether reconnecting with fellow Atlas Yacht Club members or meeting new friends along the way, all are invited to celebrate shared adventures with exclusive onboard events throughout this 4th Annual Reunion Expedition.

Itinerary

Winding pathways from ancient times transformed into modern-day roads and streets lead you to the monumental gateway of the Acropolis and other archaeological sites. Athens is a land soaked in history and mythology, but not stuck in the past. Through back alleys, passing street art and getting serenaded by street musicians, you are never lost. You may find yourself at the likes of the Church of Agioi at the southeast corner of the Holy Apostles Ancient Agora, a less-crowded site away from flocks of tourists. Haggle with local vendors at the Plaka or Monastiraki flea market.

One of the most sophisticated of the Greek Isles, Hydra, lies in the Argo Saronic Gulf. This island is a popular getaway for celebrities and the elite, making it an exceptional destination for the explorer that wants cultural immersions. Various historical sites and landmarks like the bastions surrounding the port, the Merchant Marine Academy and Monastery of Agia Efpraxia tell the island’s story throughout the years. The three main villages – Hydra Town, Vlichos and Kaminia – each hold a different facet of Greek life. Hydra also offers a surplus of beaches to bask in the sun on the sandy shores.

Standing at 70 feet wide at sea level, 81 feet wide at its top level, 300 feet tall and only about four miles long, the sheer limestone cliffs of the famous Corinth Canal can only be sailed by smaller ships and boats. The intimate size of our yachts allows us to freely navigate it for an adventurous expedition. Standing on deck as we make our way through the narrow passage, its awe-inspiring perspective will invoke a true sense of exploration.

Delphi is a place where history and mythology become entangled, where one cannot exist without the other. When you’re ready to dive into the ruins, the Oracle at Delphi awaits. Explore the Sanctuary of Apollo and other ancient remnants with a climb up the Sacred Way. It’s here you’ll gaze upon what’s called the “Navel of the World.” As you stand among the crumbling stones that make up the Athenian Treasury and ancient stadium, you can’t help but get swept back in time. Everything feels simpler, but that does not make it any less inspiring.

Nestled along the lush coastline of Lefkada, Nydri is a laid-back seaside village that invites you to slow down and soak in the Ionian charm. Stroll the palm-lined promenade dotted with tavernas, cafés, and sailboats bobbing in the harbor, or venture inland to discover the island’s natural beauty at the nearby Dimosari Waterfalls—an idyllic spot tucked within olive groves and pine-covered hills. With its welcoming spirit, scenic landscapes, and easygoing atmosphere, Nydri offers a refreshing slice of authentic Greece where time seems to drift as gently as the sea breeze.

The island of Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is an unspoiled paradise along the Ionian Sea. It’s easy to go shore hopping along waters that go from blue to bluer. Along Navagio, also known as Shipwreck Beach, if you are looking for stories of adventure, you will be pleased. Following the paths along the cliffs above the beach will take your breath away as you look upon the unbelievable horizon. The square in Zakynthos town comes alive at all hours, abuzz with activity throughout the day and into the night.

Sailing the Ionian Sea reveals a mesmerizing expanse of blue water that shimmers beneath the Mediterranean sun. As you glide along ancient maritime routes, the horizon gives way to verdant island coastlines and dramatic limestone cliffs plunging into the deep. High above the shoreline, hillside villages and terraced olive groves paint a picture of enduring tranquility, with pale stonework contrasting against the lush green. The sea itself feels alive with gentle movement. Traditional fishing boats bob rhythmically in the distance, while seabirds glide effortlessly on the ocean breezes just overhead. If you look closely at the yacht’s wake, you might even spot a pod of dolphins playfully breaking the surface. This serene journey builds quiet anticipation for the cultural treasures awaiting on the next shore.

Off the coast of Sicily you find the volcanic Aeolian Islands, the largest of which is Lipari. But not to worry, as the island’s last eruption took place over 1,000 years ago and the only signs of volcanic activity today are fumaroles and thermal springs. From a place in ancient Greek mythology to UNESCO World Heritage status, the Aeolian Islands and Lipari hold a rich and intriguing history. Seek the ultimate views with an invigorating hike through Monte Rosa. Archaeological excavations within the citadel tell a story dating as far back as the Neolithic era.

The island of Capri is the gem of the Bay of Naples. In Capri you can marvel at the whitewashed homes and villas, fragrant lemon trees and flower-filled courtyards. From the water, be sure to visit the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto), which is only accessible by boat. Once inside the cave, you can marvel at the water’s sapphire color, which is caused by the light refraction from the hidden opening in the rock. Also from the water, see the Arco Naturale on the east coast of the island. Dating from the Paleolithic age, the limestone arch is the remains of a collapsed grotto.

Perched atop soaring cliffs, Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. A lovely stroll through the historic center will take you to the Basilica di Sant’Antonio, dedicated to the town’s patron saint. Sorrento is the gateway to the remarkable ruins of Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, time seems frozen, as you observe the eerie plaster casts of numerous victims who are caught in their final moment of life. Herculaneum, also destroyed by the same eruption, is the smaller sister to Pompeii and offers a closer look at ancient Roman life.

Civitavecchia acts as the main terminal for all cruises heading into Rome or the less-crowded, nearby Tarquinia. From there a shuttle bus takes you to the Service Center of Largo della Pace where you can embark on adventures through the Eternal City. Rome maintains its position in the world as a powerful influence in religion, politics, and art, as it is well known as the site for intellectual and artistic achievements past. From the iconic Roman Coliseum aboveground to the mysterious catacombs of the Capuchin Crypt below ground, the capital of Italy beckons the adventurous to discover its many secrets and stories. The city holds a certain cosmopolitan feel as well with countless rooftop bars that are a prime location for an evening sunset. For explorations further off the beaten path, Tarquinia offers historic treasures such as the Monterozzi Necropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an authentic, Italian small-town feel.

Referred to as Cinque Terre’s "sixth town," Portovenere overlooks the Gulf of La Spezia along the Ligurian coast, providing much of what its five counterparts do - seaside scenes, rustic cuisine and stunning coastlines - with a fraction of the crowds. Seek out hidden gems like Byron’s Grotto, a secluded cave named after the literary figure who frequented the area. Nearby lies the famous Cinque Terre, comprised of five small towns, hence its name. The region lies within the bounds of a national park and what’s considered the Italian Riviera, giving it a magical aura.
