Uk TV Personality Jonathan Phang to Host two Atlas Culinary Voyages This Spring

Atlas Ocean Voyages, a specialist in yachting expeditions to remote destinations and Europe’s most sought-after ports, has announced that UK television personality Jonathan Phang will be a featured “Gastronomic Guest” aboard its World Navigator on two Epicurean Expeditions this spring, departing April 24 and 30.

A familiar face to British TV viewers, Phang cooked, judged, reported on food trends and reviewed books on “Market Kitchen” for the show’s entire three-year run on the Good Food channel. Later, he hosted “Jonathan Phang’s Caribbean Cookbook,” a 10-part series exploring the melting pot of cultures that form Caribbean cuisine, for Food Network UK. That show led to “Jonathan Phang’s Gourmet Trains” – a six-part series on The Travel Channel that blended the world of food with the romance of train travel.

“Our Epicurean Expeditions are designed for travelers who enjoy food and wine,” said James Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO. “Jonathan has successfully combined his love for food with train travel. We are thrilled that he is now heading to sea with Atlas.”

Phang traces his passion for cooking to being raised in a Chinese-Caribbean household (in London), where food was his family’s primary focus as far back as he can remember. In fact, he entered “The People’s Cookbook” competition on the Good Food channel with one of his mother’s recipes… and ended up winning.

“I am very pleased to be a part of Atlas’ exciting new Epicurean Expeditions,” said Phang. “And the idea of sharing my passion for food and wine while cruising the Costa Brava aboard a luxury yacht is quite thrilling.”

Phang began his professional career in a non-culinary role, serving as a talent manager for some of the world’s most influential fashion models, including Jerry Hall, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, and Liv Tyler. His high-profile clients made him a much-coveted industry expert on UK television, where he served as a judge on the hit show “Britain’s Next Top Model.” Phang’s no nonsense, straight-talking, yet caring approach was instantly popular with viewers, and he remained with the show for three seasons before leaving to host and mentor talent on BBC3’s groundbreaking show, “Britain’s Missing Top Model.” The show gained critical acclaim and won the RADAR Media Award for Best Factual Programming.

Atlas’ tantalizing new Epicurean Expeditions have been carefully planned for guests who appreciate food and wine. From April through October 2023, travelers can immerse themselves in the gastronomy of European ports on culinary-focused shore excursions and learn from guest chefs and sommeliers who will be on board to enrich the experience.

Whether cruising aboard World Navigator or World Traveller, Atlas’ stylish and intimate expedition yachts offer every five-star comfort, from luxurious accommodations and an all-inclusive onboard experience to in-depth shore excursions, for a truly personalized voyage.
