Captain Vitaliy Tsylke Named Master of new ‘World Traveller’ for Atlas Ocean Voyages

When Altas Ocean Voyages’ yacht-style World Traveller sails her maiden voyage tomorrow from here, Captain Vitaliy Tsylke will be in command. Skilled in polar regions, Captain Tsylke has been at the helm in Antarctica and the Arctic since 2015.

Captain Tsylke is also familiar with how this vessel performs in Antarctica, having served as master of all three Polar Category C- and Ice Class 1B-certified sister-ships operated by Atlas’ parent company Mystic Invest Holdings.

“We are very pleased to name Captain Tsylke master of World Traveller,” said James Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO. “His years of experience in polar waters and intimate knowledge of this class of expedition ship will be reassuring to our guests and crew.”

Most recently, Captain Tsylke was master of World Navigator, which debuted for Atlas last year. He was also master of World Voyager for Nico Cruises (Germany) and World Explorer, which sails in Antarctica for Quark Expeditions. Previously, he served as staff captain for Silversea and PolarQuest in Antarctica and the Arctic. Prior non-polar experience includes posts with Hapag Lloyd, Albatross Reisen, Classic International Cruises, and Mano Maritime.

A native of Odessa, Ukraine, Captain Tsylke earned his bachelor’s in naval architecture and obtained a master’s degree in maritime navigation. He and his wife have two daughters.

“Antarctica is a place of such incredible beauty,” said Captain Tsylke. “I look forward to bringing Atlas guests there aboard the new World Traveller.”

After a series of expeditions to Antarctica, World Traveller repositions via the Canary Islands to Europe for 7- to 10-day voyages that showcase the best of the Mediterranean. Home ports include Seville, Lisbon, Barcelona, Nice and Civitavecchia – the port for Rome. In August, three Arctic expeditions offer guests the chance to marvel at majestic glaciers, fjordlands, and mountains, and observe a range of wildlife, including birds, whales, polar bears, reindeer, walrus, and the elusive Arctic fox.

From the land of the Midnight Sun, World Traveller offers an Iceland circumnavigation before charting a southbound course via the British Isles, Ireland, France, and Spain to conclude her Europe season on October 16 in Lisbon.

World Traveller caters to curious, global travelers with a passion for exploring iconic and off-the-beaten-path places. The stylish and intimate vessel offers every five-star comfort, from an all-inclusive onboard experience and luxurious accommodations to in-depth excursions and customized private tours, for a truly personalized voyage.
