Atlas to Feature Celebrity Chef Rick Moonen on Europe Culinary Expeditions in Summer 2023

Acclaimed restaurateur, master chef, and cookbook author Rick Moonen – a leading advocate for the sustainable seafood movement – will be the featured “Gastronomic Guest” aboard Atlas Ocean Voyages’ 198-guest yacht World Navigator on two Mediterranean voyages, departing June 17 and June 30.

Atlas’ tantalizing new Epicurean Expeditions have been carefully planned for guests who appreciate food and wine. From April through October 2023, travelers can immerse themselves in the gastronomy of European ports on culinary shore excursions and learn from guest chefs and sommeliers who will be on board to enrich the experience. Guest chefs will also accompany the line’s complimentary culinary-focused “Cultural Immersion” tours.

From 1994 to 2005, Moonen earned 3 stars from The New York Times for his work at Oceana, Molyvos, and RM in New York City. He was also executive chef at the Water Club and his passion and vocalization of sustainable seafood practices led him to publish the cookbook, “Fish Without a Doubt,” in 2008.

In 2005, Moonen opened Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood and RX Boiler Room restaurants at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. Both showcase his commitment to sustainability without foregoing culinary creativity and innovation and have been critically acclaimed since Day One.

Additionally, Moonen has been featured in leading publications such as Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Saveur, Food Arts, USA Today, Travel + Leisure, and has frequently appeared on the Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate,” “Top Chef” and “Top Chef Masters” series, as well as NBC’s “TODAY,” “Good Morning America,” “CBS This Morning” and CNN.

In 2010, Moonen was the runner-up on Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” and has received numerous awards for his tireless efforts towards sustainability including Chef of the Year by the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Humanitarian of the Year by the American Culinary Federation.

Today, Moonen is chef advocate for Feast it Forward – a fun, inspiring and unique online lifestyle and food network – and master development chef for Perry’s Restaurants, one of the country’s premier, award-winning steakhouses with locations in Denver, Chicago, Birmingham, Miami, Raleigh, Nashville and across Texas.

“Our Epicurean Expeditions provide an immersive culinary experience for guests,” said James Rodriguez, the line’s president and CEO. “We are excited to welcome Chef Moonen to our program and applaud his commitment to sustainability.”

“I hope many of my restaurant customers and online followers will join me in Europe this summer,” said Moonen. “There is no better way to truly experience Italian Riviera resorts and Greek islands than aboard a yacht.”

Whether cruising aboard World Traveller or sister-ship World Navigator, Atlas’ stylish and intimate expedition yachts offer every five-star comfort, from luxurious accommodations and an all-inclusive onboard experience to in-depth shore excursions, for a truly personalized voyage.
